Govt trims TV Channels rates

PTI government has reduced the advertising rates of the TV channels. The previous government had given very lucrative advertising rates to most of the TV channels, but the present government had trimmed the rates according to the worth of the TV Channels. The government, however, must not give its advertisements to TV channels that are not paying salaries to their workers and those that are being run like dummy channels. China to make huge investment to bail out Pakistan from crisis: Dingbin

dingbin CG

Corporate Ambassador/KARACHI: China has decided to make huge investment in new projects in Pakistan that would improve financial position of Pakistan. Chinese Consul General Long Dingbin has disclosed this in an interview to Geo TV.

Chinese diplomat said that instead of giving cash, China is going to make big investments in Pakistan in new projects that would not be loans. Mr Dingbin said that massive Chinese investment in Pakistan would also be a bailout package for this country that will stabilize the economic and financial position of Pakistan.

He said that during Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recent visit to China, the two neighbours had signed 15 new agreements which will lead to increased cooperation in politics and the financial sector and will also improve cultural ties.

China India flag

He further said that the new ventures that were being launched to widen the scope of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The Chinese consul general claimed that China would “never leave Pakistan in a difficult situation” and provide maximum resources to ensure that the latter can strengthen its wavering economy.

In response to a question about Pakistan’s crippling debts, Dingbin insisted that CPEC did not contribute to “Pakistan’s debt burden”.

He said that only four of the 22 projects launched under CPEC provided concessional loans, while the rest were investment-based and would strengthen Pakistan’s economy.

Chinese consulate attack

Dingbin said that following the attack on the consulate in Karachi, security around the Lahore consulate’s building had been increased. He said that a two-tier security mechanism had been developed in coordination with law enforcement agencies and the Punjab government.

Praising the bravery of the policemen who were martyred while holding off the attackers in Karachi, Dingbin said that his country’s diplomats were considering setting up permanent donation fund, that would not only provide aid to the families of the martyred policemen, but also help the “deserving people of Pakistan”.

Peng Zhengwu, the deputy consul general, who was also present during the interview, praised the bravery of the policemen who were martyred while engaging the attackers, and donated 1,000 RMB (yuan), while Dingbin gave 2,000 RMB.

PICSS reports escalation in terror-related fatalities in Nov-2018

picss image

Corporate Ambassador/ISLAMABAD: Violence continues to escalate in Pakistan as militants managed to inflict more human losses. An Islamabad based independent think tank Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), in its monthly report revealed, that November witnessed substantial increase in deaths and injuries though number of attacks have gone slightly down. While the number of militant attacks have gone down by almost 14 percent during November as 21 militant attacks were carried out in the month against 24 militant attacks in October, the impact of less number of attacks in November was higher than that of October. There has been almost 49 percent increase in number of deaths and almost 33 percent increase in number of injuries as compared to previous month. These 21 militant attacks in November caused killing of 63 people and injuries to 73 others.

November also witnessed some significant attacks including an attack against Chinese consulate in Karachi claimed by proscribed Baluchistan Liberation Army (BLA) and an attack of sectarian nature claimed by Daesh. There are strong apprehensions in Pakistan and circumstantial evidence to indicate that former is done at the behest of anti-CPEC forces spearheaded by India through Afghanistan and the latter having its roots in the Afghan soil.

According to PICSS report, the highest number of attacks and resultant deaths as well as injuries during the month of November were recorded in erstwhile FATA region where 13 militant attacks were reported in which 49 people were killed and 50 others were injured. Three militant attacks were recorded in Baluchistan that caused four deaths and injuries to 13 others, two militant attacks were recorded in Sindh in which nine people were killed and the same of others were injured where one militant attack each was reported from ICT, KPK and Punjab.
