KARACHI: Mr. Emil Wyss, the Consul General of Switzerland in Karachi hosted an exclusive reception to celebrate the 724th National Day of the Swiss Confederation at the Pearl Continental Hotel on August 07, 2015.
Diplomats, politicians, businessmen, and members of the society with special abilities attended the occasion. With 800 guests, this was the largest National Day ever celebrated in Karachi. Highlight of the evening was a performance by National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) students who sung in German the Swiss and in Urdu the Pakistani national anthems, using local music instruments including sitar and tabla.
Addressing the audience, the Consul General highlighted that Switzerland, which is the 4th largest foreign direct investor, enjoys strong bilateral relations with Pakistan. Thanks to which, twenty-four (24) Swiss companies are successfully operating in the country. Emil Wyss mentioned that in order to celebrate the friendly relations between the two countries, and to ultimately attract more foreign direct investment to the country, “Pakistan-Switzerland Friendship Exhibition” is underway at the Karachi International Airport.
