Key stakeholders should work with mutual collaboration: Dr. Ahson Qavi

Dr. Ahson Qavi Siddiqi, CEO Sindh Health Care Commission (SHCC) visited the PMA House to congratulate Dr. Usman Mako the newly elected President, PMA and other elected members of the cabinet of Pakistan Medical Association(PMA) .  Dr. Mirza Ali Azhar former president of PMA was also present at the occasion. 

During the meeting, CEO SHCC, accompanied by the Director -Anti- Quackery,  Director Licensing and Deputy Director Licensing, met and discussed the way forward strategy to increase mutual collaborative efforts in the provision of quality health care for the general public. PMA Members gave their recommendations on ways to combine efforts together with SHCC and identified key challenges being faced by the health care practitioners across the province. CEO, SHCC further briefed everyone on new training and development agenda aimed to sensetize the field teams going out for inspections of health care establishments and  ensure trust and respect with the Doctors community in line with SHCC core values to encourage a ‘participatory approach’ between the health care practitioner (HCP), PMA members and SHCC. 

‘All Key stakeholders in the health care delivery system are important and should work in mutual collaboration with one another’ said Dr. Ahson.  SHCC  pledges to ensure quality and accessibility of health care through training, governance and licensing of health care providers and establishments in the province of Sindh. Special measures are being put in place to control the menace of quackery with the support of our partner stakeholders. CEO, SHCC thanked PMA and reaffirmed the commitment to work together to bring more improvement in the health care system across the province.

Health Care is the basic human right: CEO

Corporate Ambassador/KARACHI: The COVID-19 pandemic has re-defined the overall health care delivery system, hindering basic access to health care and creating challenges for regulators to manage the rapidly rising needs and diversity.
Likewise, we have also witnessed the rising cases of quackery in the province. Therefore, SHCC pledges to ensure quality and accessibility of health care through training, governance, and licensing of health care providers and establishments in the province of Sindh, CEO SHCC Dr Ahson Qavi Siddiqui said in a statement issued on Monday.

Special measures are being put in place to control the menace of quackery with the support of our partner stakeholders. SHCC believes that all relevant stakeholders in the health care delivery system are
important and should work in mutual collaboration with one another.

SHCC reaffirms its commitment to work towards regulating and improving the
overall health care quality at all levels within the province as health is the most
basic human right.


Sindh Health Care Commission imposes Rs 0.94 million in fines on quacks in the province

The Sindh Health Care Commission has imposed huge fines on many quacks involved in violation of the rules and regulations of the section 9(2) of the SHCC ACT 2013. This was disclosed in the 8th Committee Meeting of the Directorate of Anti-Quackery took place on 1st December 2021, at the Sindh Health Care Commission (SHCC) Head Office.

The total amount of Rs 940,000 (0.94 million) was imposed as penalties after all cases were analyzed in the wake of rising quackery in Sindh province. Convener and Committee Chair, Dr. Khalid Hussain Shaikh and Member Committee Dr Abdul Razzaq Shaikh, approved the penalties of 32 quackery cases including 06 cases from Larkana, 08 from Hyderabad, 04 from Mirpur Khas, 01 from Sukkur, 01 from Shaheed Benazir Abad and 12 from Karachi under section 9(2) of the SHCC ACT 2013.

It was decided in the meeting that existing ground realities be analyzed while dealing with health care practitioners to nurture better communications with them and improve their knowledge on health care practices to be effectively followed for the welfare of the general public.

Committee Chair Dr Khalid Hussian Shaikh further stated that strict follow up checks be conducted by the Anti-Quackery team against each penalty case to ensure that repeat offenders are identified and dealt with strictly.

The Director Anti -Quackery de-briefed the Committee about the steady improvement in the recoveries of fines. It was recommended by the Directorate of Anti-Quackery to gradually impose heavier fines on the rising number of illegally de-sealed premises.

The meeting was attended by CEO-SHCC Dr Ahson Qavi Siddiqui, Committee Member Dr Abdul Razzaq Sheikh, Director Anti Quackery and his team of    Deputy Directors.
