At present General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, NI(M), Arty — Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), JS HQ. (Colonel-in-Chief of the Regiment of Artillery) and General Qamar Javed Bajwa, NI(M), Baloch[1]Chief of Army Staff (COAS), GHQ. (Colonel-in-Chief of the Baloch Regiment) are the top-two Generals of Pakistan Army, who are scheduled to retire on 29th of Nov 2019.

Some circles gave the impression that Director General of ISI Lt-Gen. Naveed Mukhtar will become next Army Chief, but they did not know that Naveed Mukhtar is scheduled to get retirement in 2018 while sitting Army Chief will get retirement on 29th of Nov 2019. Lt-Gen. Naveed Mukhtar is relative of Maryam Nawaz as he has married his son in Mian Muneer’s family where Maryam Nawaz has married her daughter.

According to media reports, father of Naveed Mukhtar, who is retired Brigadier, is business partner of Mian Muneer. Muneer is very close to Nawaz Sharif and his family and getting big contracts of business and expanding his corporate empire. On this basis, some circles often criticise DG ISI.

In Pakistan’s political and democratic/dictatorship scenarios, two Generals role remains very crucial _ Chief of Army Staff and DG ISI. From Gen. Ziaul Haq to Gen. Pervez Musharraf and Gen. Kiyani, we have seen a very clear make-n-break role of army chiefs and DG ISIs in politics, democracy and dictatorship. Now a year is left for next elections (in case PML(N) completes its 5-year term), till the new elections we will be able to see further as to how much the army chief and DG ISI are neutral in the political scenario of Pakistan.

Here is list seniority-wise list of Pakistan Army Generals who are due to retire in 2017, 2018 and later on alongwith their date of retirement.
